Jerry Parmentier-Minister to Children and their Families
I grew up in church from a very early age and it seemed like I was there every time the doors were opened. I remember having teachers that loved Jesus and I knew when I grew up that I wanted to be like one of them. I loved how they made loving Jesus fun and exciting. I accepted Christ as my Savior at the age of 7. I remember realizing that I had a MAJOR problem and that problem was that I was a sinner and needed forgiveness for my sins. At age 13, I met Shannon, the second love of my life. We married at age 21 and have 5 children Chase, Harley, Jenna, Jaelee, and Liam.
I am thrilled about being apart of your Champions Life and watching God do exciting things in their life.

Katie Laney, Children’s Ministry Associate
Children and children’s ministry have a special place in my heart. God has given me a passion and a love to make a difference in the lives of children and their families. I was saved when I was ten-years-old at a Vacation Bible School at a local church. I was then baptized after a Disciple Now here at FBC Sunnyvale when I was fourteen. At the age of seventeen, I felt the call of God to go into vocational children’s ministry.
I had the privilege of growing up in the ministries here at First Baptist Church Sunnyvale. My family started attending here in the latter part of my first grade year. I graduated from North Mesquite in 2005. In 2009, I graduated from Ouachita Baptist University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Christian Studies-Christian Ministries and Mass Communication with a minor in psychology. I graduated with my Master’s of Arts in Christian Education in Childhood Ministries from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in May 2011, and am currently working on my Ph.D. I am married to a wonderful man named Daniel.
Thank you for the privilege and opportunity to partner with you in ministering to your child.
Sarah Stubbs, Children’s Ministry Assistant
I have had the privilege of growing up in Sunnyvale FBC since I was in 3rd grade. This church and the people that are here have been blessing me since I was little and I know will continue to do so. It has been wonderful being able to grow up in such a loving environment. I asked Jesus into my heart when I was 8 and He has been constantly loving me and guiding me into the person I am today. I love working with children and being able to connect with them and learn about Jesus with them.
Bruce Kassab, Kids-in-Worship Pastor
I am a full time associate pastor at SFBC and wear a variety of hats. I hold a triple diversified major (Psychology, Sociology, History) and a minor in Bible from Westmont College. I have also earned a Masters of Divinity with biblical languages from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I have completed three years of doctoral seminars in Expository Preaching at Southwestern from which will receive a Doctor of Ministry degree in 2011. I am happily married to Jamie. We make our home in Sunnyvale along with our three daughters- Kaylen, Kelsey and Kristen; and Bonnie their miniature show poodle.
I founded and lead the SFBC Higher Heights Academy (HHA), an exciting on campus program serving home schooled children via a multi-media educational workshop format that includes ethics, history, and performing arts from a Christian worldview. I also functions as chaplain for SFBC Kingdom Kids pre-school program, and as chaplain at several adult and childrens’ off campus settings. Known as Pastor Bruce, I am the director of the on campus SFBC Kids ‘n Worship program, a weekly Sunday morning children’s worship service that ministers to pre-school and elementary age children. The program includes skits, Bible stories, object lessons, music, and break-out sessions all to demonstrate to kids how to worship God and learn about Him from His word. The Kids ‘n Worship program also serves as a training ground for pre-teens, teens, and adults who seek training or are already fully capable of serving our Lord in children’s ministries.
I have the gift of evangelism and have been used by God to lead dozens to Christ here at SFBC. I am a specialist at conducting private meetings with parents and their children to discuss the plan of salvation as well as private counseling meetings prior to baptisms. I schedule such meetings on or off campus at a time and place that is best for you including evenings. I am active as a SFBC home missionary in local community events, festivals, recitals, performance and educational efforts. Along with my wife Jamie and our three girls, I seek help from those who wish to represent Christ and SFBC outside the walls of the church.
